Jean Liu Urquhart, MD

Jean Liu Urquhart, MD is triple board-certified in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Mohs Surgery, integrating advanced medical and surgical expertise with a refined artistic eye for cosmetic dermatology. She earned her undergraduate degree at Yale University, where she studied History while completing the pre-medical curriculum. She went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Urquhart completed her internship, dermatology residency, and advanced fellowship training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. There she developed specialized expertise in medical dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs micrographic surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. 

In addition to her Surgical and Dermatology training, Dr. Urquhart completed an Immunodermatology research fellowship where she conducted experiments and studies to understand genetic causes of melanoma and other skin cancers. She completed an additional fellowship in Dermatopathology to gain expertise in diagnostic skills of skin cancers and skin conditions. Dr. Urquhart has published articles regarding topics in melanoma, pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology and skin cancer screening. 

Dr. Urquhart is passionate about providing the best dermatologic care possible to her patients where diagnosis, treatment and aesthetics align. Her ability to synthesize her basic science research background, diagnostic and surgical skills, and artistry with over 20 years of clinical dermatology experience offers her patients comprehensive dermatologic care in medical and cosmetic dermatology, and Mohs surgery with quality, depth and versatility. With the range of her dermatologic experience and expertise, Dr. Urquhart is committed to helping her patients achieve healthy and beautiful skin. 

Dr. Urquhart appreciates the health conscious patient population in the Colorado mountain towns and enjoys being a part of the care and education of our community members. She conducts lectures to cancer awareness groups, schools and medical professionals to help educate our community about skin cancer detection, sun protection, skin care and management of dermatologic conditions. Dr. Urquhart regularly participates in free skin cancer screenings for residents of Eagle and Summit Counties. She was a board member of Colorado Rockies Physician Practices Association for over a decade. Dr. Urquhart has also donated her time to write grant proposals for sunshade structures for local nonprofit organizations.

Raised in California and Texas, Dr. Urquhart is happy to call Colorado home after many years of moving around the country. After completing her training in Denver, Dr. Urquhart moved to the Vail Valley in 2007 with her husband and their two children. Naturally curious, Dr. Urquhart is a lifelong learner, with a love for discovery that extends well beyond work. In her free time, she is often happily dabbling in a new interest! She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and adventuring in the outdoors!
