Acne and Acne Scars
Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting teenagers and adults. It is caused by hormone changes, medications, poor skin hygiene, genetics, diet, and environmental exposures. Skin pores become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria, causing formation of pimples, blackheads, or deep cysts. When acne is inflamed and deep, it can result in acne scars, which may appear as depressions, raised areas, or discoloration of the skin. While acne itself is temporary, scars are permanent, making early proactive treatment and proper skin care important to reduce both breakouts and the risk of permanent scarring. Treatments for acne include prescription medication, steroid injections, skin care, facials, Diamond Glow, and laser resurfacing.
Acne scar treatments include intralesional steroid injections, microneedling, pulse dye laser, CO2 resurfacing, chemical peels and dermal fillers.
