Dermal Fillers

Fillers are skin rejuvenating products that reduce wrinkles and help with facial and body contouring in areas of volume loss. In the US, there are many different types of fillers composed of hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyapatite, or poly-L-lactic acid. These fillers have different properties which can be utilized to optimize results, depending on the goals.

Fillers have various applications of treatment in the skin. Most common is wrinkle reduction and volume loss in the face - undereyes, cheeks, temples, lips, chin, earlobes, jawlines. Other areas on the body such as chest, hands, thighs, and buttocks may also be injected for body contouring. Scars from acne, trauma and surgery can also be treated with fillers. The results are visible immediately and last 6 months to 2 years, depending on which product is used. Our physicians customize your treatment based on your skin’s quality and your goals for natural results.

While non-physician providers are permitted to inject in Colorado, it is important to understand there is significant risk to patients despite what the state allows. Filler injection carries risk for infection, granulomas, and vascular occlusion. While uncommon, complications from fillers do occur and some with significant long term sequelae such as skin necrosis and blindness. Understanding how to minimize complications and also manage complications is the benefit of the advanced medical expertise and training of our dermatologists and why only our dermatologists inject fillers in our practice.
